In a defining moment in her rising career, Egyptian singer Lella Fadda has made her debut performance on the Berlin-based live music series, Colors. Set against an apple green backdrop— presumably symbolic of her energy and the essence of the song she performed—the part-Italian artist delivered a performance of one of her latest singles, TARAT TARAT TA, featured on her highly-anticipated debut album MAGNUN.

Released in January, Fadda’s first full-length project showcases a whole new side of her art, shifting gears into a more alternative, rebellious sound that reflects her evolving persona. For her Colors debut, she went with TARAT TARAT TA, a track produced by fellow Egyptian rapper Abyusif, that tackles the heavy issue of domestic violence, calling much-needed attention to a problem that’s far too often swept under the rug. Dressed to impress in a tailored black suit, Fadda took the stage with purpose, making a statement whilst also joining the prestigious ranks of Arab artists who’ve made their mark on the show.

“INSANE Egyptian pride moment,” wrote Egyptian musician Mosalem in the YouTube video’s comment section.

In just under three minutes, the Cairo-born, raised, and based rapper delivered an intense and compelling performance, tackling, with raw emotion and defiance, the difficult theme of toxicity and abuse, taking advantage of her main stage moment to send a powerful message, in hopes of improving the livelihoods of those affected by such issues.
