With over 14 million streams on Spotify, upwards of 2.5 million views on YouTube, you’ve probably already heard Lolo Zouaï’s debut hit ‘High Highs to Low Lows’. The Algerian songstress dropped the track in 2017, ultimately plucking her from complete obscurity to international recognition.

In a series of tweets, the singer admitted that the song is about Nick Jonas, who she called out on Twitter for similarities between his new single ‘Spaceman’ and her song ‘Jade’, featuring Blood Orange.

“Remember when you flew me out to LA to sign me then ghosted me,” Zouai tweeted, with soundbites from both tracks. In ‘High Highs to Low Lows,’ the singer refers to the alleged incident, writing “Ooh, you wanna help me, Ooh, you wanna fly me out to LA, Dreams you wanna sell me I took a bite, that’s a gold plate, a gold plate, Timing, he said it’s just bad timing, Lying, all I got from you was silence (Ouais ouais ok).

Fans also quickly pointed out the similarities between Zouai’s ‘Jade’ and Jonas’s ‘Spaceman’.

“She’s not wrong?” wrote one user, “same warped beat and it sounds like almost exactly the same key was used too.”
