Louis Vuitton and Murakami Reimagine Iconic Collaboration

The French fashion house and Japanese artist are reigniting a pop-art revolution through a stunning re-edition collection

Louis Vuitton and Takashi Murakami are back with a bang to mark the 20th anniversary since their first collaboration. Two decades after their playful and colorful reimagining of Louis Vuitton’s iconic monogram, the duo has decided to commemorate the milestone moment with a re-edition that feels just as fresh as it did the first time it was released.

The Louis Vuitton × Murakami collection is a joyful mash-up of high craftsmanship, cutting-edge tech, and Takashi Murakami’s unmistakable pop-art aesthetic. Evoking nostalgia, the two collaborators are once again blending luxury and art in a way that redefines both, and that prior to their take, was yet to be done.  Think over 200 pieces, from bags and shoes to jewelry and even skateboards, all crafted with LV’s age-old know-how and bathed in the whimsical energy that Murakami is celebrated for.

Back in the early 2000s, the collaboration, masterminded by then-Artistic Director Marc Jacobs, turned heads by giving Louis Vuitton’s iconic monogram a kaleidoscopic makeover. It was the first time the historic pattern had been so radically reworked. Now, with this anniversary collection, the iconic design—and more—are making a comeback, updated with 2025’s tech-savvy precision and skill.

Here, Murakami’s signature blend of kawaii, anime, and traditional Japanese art meets Louis Vuitton’s timeless savoir-faire in everything from city-bags to platform sandals. Highlights include the multicolored monogram featured on classic items like the Keepall, Dauphine, and Speedy bags. What’s more, the collection also features playful motifs, such as the Superflat Panda on sneakers, and the Cherry Blossom pattern on everything from Papillon bags to Courrier Lozine trunks.

But the magic doesn’t stop there. The collection also offers a range of eyewear, including bold sunglasses that bring Murakami’s vibrant patterns to life, along with silk scarves featuring LV’s logo—perfect for elevating any outfit. Perfume lovers will enjoy seeing some of their favorite bottles reimagined, as the Superflat Garden’s smiley flowers add a playful touch to both Attrape-Rêves, and Imagination fragrances.

The collection will launch worldwide, just in time for the New Year, on Jan. 1, 2025, with a second chapter expected to hit shelves in March.
