Mariah Carey Teams Up With Chopard on a Dazzling Collection of Diamonds and Butterflies

The collections are *chefs kiss*

Mariah Carey has plenty to celebrate as her season approaches (read: Christmas). In addition to celebrating the 25-year anniversary of her sixth studio album Butterfly, the US hitmaker and “Queen of Christmas” announced that she teamed up with fine jewelry label Chopard on a two-collection line.

Made in partnership with Chopard’s president Caroline Scheufele, Carey’s first collection, is simply titled Chopard x Mariah Carey, and boasts a large butterfly statement necklace, a butterfly ring, and angel-wing earrings all finished in 18-karat, Fairmined certified white gold, and paved in diamonds. Meanwhile, the second drop, Happy Butterfly, includes butterfly-shaped cuffs, necklaces, earrings, and rings.

Carey has a well-documented affinity for butterflies. Her name on Twitter is set to “Mimi” and accented with a blue butterfly emoji, she has a tattoo of the lepidoptera on her lower back, and she’s often seen sporting butterfly jewelry.

The collaboration came about a couple of years ago around January, when the artist found an unopened gift from Chopard under her Christmas tree. Inside the gift box was a silk scarf printed with butterfly motifs and a handwritten note from Scheufele. Carey reached out to the brand’s president and suggested a collaboration, and the rest is history

The Chopard collaboration marks Carey’s first foray into the world of high jewelry, though she has designed an affordable jewelry line for HNS.

The new lines could not have come at a more symbolic time as Carey has just celebrated the Diamond certification of All I Want for Christmas Is You, and she’s also celebrating the 25th anniversary of her seminal Butterfly. And the fact that the collaboration was born during Christmas season just makes it even more perfect.
