Calling all music lovers

Banned Death on the nile

The hotly-anticipated FIFA World Cup 2022 in Doha is only a couple of months away. In addition to watching the best athletes in the world at the highest stage of football, fans can also look forward to an array of cultural and entertainment offerings that will be taking place during the one-month-long football tournament.

Over the weekend, the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) announced the tiny Gulf country will be hosting more than 90 special events, including street performances, cultural displays, and film screenings, which will take place on the sidelines of the tournament from November 20 to December 18 throughout various parts of Qatar.

The MDLBEAST music festival will also, for the first time, be taking place in Qatar during the tournament.

The electronic music festival will get underway in Al Wakrah, originally a small pearl diving and fishing city, and which now boasts the impressive Al Janoub Stadium, a dhow-inspired structure  that will be hosting the matches from the group stages through to the Round of 16.

The mega music festival is set to attract 5,000 fans.

The EDM event was first launched in Riyadh in 2019, and has hosted a spectacular lineup of electronic music artists including David Guetta, Deadmau5, and Steve Aoki, and DJ Tiesto, among many others.

While the exact details of the festival are yet to be revealed, if the previous events are any indication, you probably don’t want to miss it.
