Finally, Love Is Blind, Habibi is here. After months of waiting, Netflix dropped all episodes of the dating-show-slash-social-experiment on its streaming platform on Thursday. For those who don’t watch reality television, the first-ever season of Love Is Blind debuted in 2020, and sees single men and women blind date in “pods” where they can only hear their date’s voice. The couples only meet if they build an authentic connection across 10 days worth of dates and decide to get engaged, without having ever seen each other. The couples are then whisked away on a romantic holiday before moving in together. They then have a limited number of weeks to get to know their partner and decide if they are compatible enough to proceed with their wedding day. Since its debut four-years-ago, there have been several spin-offs of the show, with several international versions taking place in Brazil, Japan, the UK, Germany, Mexico, and now, the UAE.
Despite being filmed in the UAE, the inaugural cast of Love Is Blind, Habibi includes 20 single Arab men and women from all parts of the Middle East and North Africa—Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Syria, Morocco, Tunisia, Jordan, and Iraq— who reside in Dubai. During the course of the episodes, co-hosted by Saudi celebrity couple Elham Ali and Khaled Saqer, each unique cast member will try to fall in love and get engaged, all before seeing each other IRL.
