Middle East Archive Announces First Book Release

You might know the Middle East Archive as the IG account fueling our nostalgia, offering the world a glimpse of what the region once looked like, from Morocco to Oman. There’s more to it. 

The  platform has played a major role over the years in highlighting often forgotten aspects of the Arab world—and it’s now taking things to the next level. The project’s founder announced on Instagram that they’ll be releasing a first book. 

The collective reaction? “I need it on my coffee table. Now.”

The book, which will be available for purchase in October, is a collaboration with Lebanese photographer Fouad Elkoury who is known for his incredible work as a war photographer in Lebanon.

“Running this page and creating the Middle East Archive has been a very enriching experience for me and luckily I have found so many of you to embrace it with. It excites me every time I find a nice photograph that I can share with you, leading to this growing collection which I’m very proud of,” wrote the founder in an Instagram caption. 

“This has finally led to the creation of the very first Middle East Archive book allowing me to collaborate with one of the greatest photographers Fouad ElKoury,” they continued. 

The book will include photographs taken in four different countries: Lebanon, Palestine, Oman and Egypt between 1980 and 1997.

Needless to say, we cannot wait to get our hands on it.
