Nike Takes Air Max Day to New Heights With Warchieff and Sonya

"Just doing it"

Nike has just taken Air Max Day to new heights – literally. The leading sports apparel and footwear company celebrated in style with a spectacular visual and audio takeover of Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa, all to showcase its latest sneaker innovation, the Air Max Pulse.

Nike Air Max Day is an annual celebration of Nike’s Air Max line which takes place on March 26 every year. The event was first launched by Nike in 1987, to celebrate the release of the first Air Max. The day has become a major event in the sneaker and streetwear community, and it has helped to cement the Air Max line as one of Nike’s most iconic and enduring sneaker lines.

Since its debut, the Air Max line has always pushed the boundaries of fearless self-expression and creativity. And this year’s Air Max Day was no exception, as Nike brought the world’s tallest building to life with a breath-taking display that lit up the entire tower. But that’s not all – the takeover also featured a unique soundtrack, produced  by Saudi artist Mohammed Alhamdan, aka  Warchieff, and Sonya, a UAE-based music artist that has graced some of the biggest venues in the world today.

Their sonic collaboration fused traditional Arabic sounds with futuristic beats and their own inspiration, creating a truly one-of-a-kind experience that celebrated unrestricted creativity and the spirit of Air Max. By blending vibrant visuals and lighting with local themes and the frenetic energy of the underground music scene, the team crafted a true pulse of the city.

“We both wanted it to be a tribute to the local Arabic sounds which are on the radar now. We came up with two versions, both carrying a captivating, nostalgic and futuristic vibe. We fused together; it created a unique sensory experience while keeping our own unique stamp on it,” said Sonya of the collaborative tune.

“With this soundtrack, we tried pushing the idea of an old Arabic funk in an electronic landscape to create a groovy rhythm with our region’s sounds. By using familiar melody and pushing it to another level I found a way to create what I believe is our future nostalgia,” added Warchieff.

But let’s not forget about the star of the show – the Nike Air Max Pulse itself. This sleek and stylish sneaker boasts a point-loaded system that distributes weight onto targeted points on the airbag, delivering more bounce and reactivity than ever before. And with the recognizable 270 Air Bag unit and a bold, clean silhouette, the Air Max Pulse is the perfect shoe for anyone who wants to express their creativity from day to night.

The first Air Max shoe was the Air Max 1, which was designed by Tinker Hatfield, who also designed other iconic Nike shoes such as the Air Jordan series. It was the first shoe to feature a visible air cushioning unit in the sole of the shoe, which was a revolutionary design feature at the time.

Over the years, Nike has released many different versions of the Air Max, each with their own unique design features.

Today, the Air Max line is one of Nike’s most popular and recognizable shoe lines, and it continues to be a cultural icon in the world of sneakers and streetwear.

The question remains – How will you style the #AirMaxPulse?
