Why The Okhtein Store Launch Was A Night to Remember

Fashion, Food & Music

Cairo-based Okhtein label has been making strides in the high-end fashion realm since its founding in 2014. Blending local craftsmanship with ritzy designs and colourful patterns, the luxury accessory brand is slowly pouring its spell-out name into global markets all while carving its own unique path towards worldwide notoriety. Launched by the Abdel Raouf sisters (hence the name Okhtein nodding to the duo’s blood ties), the young brand has been slicing through the local fashion industry’s noise, by stitching sumptuous pieces, to beam their identity, vision and aesthetic past the borders of their native Egypt.

Yesterday, at the heart of the Cairene capital, the family-run business opened its third signature store in one of the city’s most prestigious locations, Garden 8, the self-proclaimed first premier lifestyle destination in town. To celebrate their newest launch, Okhtein saw things in big and bold as the label put on a vibrant reception to cut the ribbon and kick things off in style. Elegance definitely was the main word to describe the newly inaugurated premise. With a very minimalistic style, walls and accompanying furniture were coated in ochre tints and gold dashes with the brand’s awe-inspiring accessories neatly placed around the boutique. Colour combinations were obviously in sync with Okhtein’s recognised energy and wanted aura as well as in symbioses with their visual identity. Attendees were carefully introduced to their adorning pieces of wearable art bringing some knowledge behind the presented collectables.

The store’s glittery opening was rapidly followed by an after-party concert headlined by Disco Misr and that’s how, under the city’s dazzling stars, Cairo’s coolest crowd of creatives all ended up in the same melting pot answering present to the festive invitation. And it adamantly was a night to remember. All prominent actors of the country’s cultural and entertaining scene could be seen moving hips and tapping toes to a slew of electronic tunes and remixes of the region’s unofficial anthems. From Marwan Moussa to Wegz, Hadban brothers and Alya Mooro, it was a real gathering of fashion, art and music and a textile spectacle to thoroughly enjoy to your heart’s content.
