Launched in 2017, already cult sportswear brand Precious Trust has been reshaping Dubai’s fashion scene with its clean unisex tracksuits, pushing the boundaries of gendered fashion. At only 21-years-old, Dubai-based Algerian designer and skater, Wathek Allal, will release his second highly anticipated collection at Sole DXB this December.
Speaking to Allal, it’s obvious Precious Trust is inherently an introspective project. As he notes, “my brand is my personal journal”. Using Precious Trust as a vehicle for the young designer to embrace his Algerian identity, the Syria-raised skater never fully accepted his Algerian roots because the connotations were seen as pejorative in his circle. But now, with his high-end take on sportswear (inspired by Algerian aesthetics) Allal wants the whole world to fall in love with where he comes from.
Influenced by his intrinsically personal, concept-driven but unforced approach, at Sole DXB, Allal will present a men’s and women’s collection for the first time (as well as a line of genderless head-to-toe tracksuits) inspired by tailoring, minimalism and preppy luxury. “Algerians like to appear tough, while inside they are deeply emotional”, says Allal before adding, “Precious Trust is about revealing these feelings”.
