5 Major Highlights from Saudi Arabia’s Ad Diriyah E-Prix

It’s been a year of historic firsts for Saudi Arabia, and this weekend was certainly no exception. The Kingdom just had its biggest event yet: the Saudia Ad Diriyah E-Prix. With a jampacked weekend full of unprecedented moves, this wasn’t one to be missed.

From Saudi locals to your favourite international celebrities, the event attracted just about everyone. Thousands gathered at the Ad Diriyah, the UNESCO World Heritage Site that’s currently undergoing a multi-million dollar renovation, to not only watch the races, but also witness the Kingdom’s first, and largest music festival.

Incase you missed the three-day event, we rounded up all the major highlights for you.

For the first time, foreigners were welcomed into the Kingdom and were not required to wear abayas.


At just 18-years-old, Emirati driver Amna Al Qubaisi became the first Arab woman to test-drive a Formula E car.


Portuguese driver Antonio Felix da Costa defeated champion France’s Jean-Eric Vergne to win the historic inaugural ePrix.


Jason Derulo surprised fans by debuting his newest song for the first time on the Saudi stage.
