Can’t Make It to Saudi Arabia for National Day? Catch the Action on the Metaverse

There’s no excuse to miss out

After Facebook Inc. rebranded into META last year, more countries and companies have since followed the social app’s lead and started making their first few steps in the cyber world too. Expecting the platform to become a defining element of the decades to come, the world of tomorrow is already upon us as we are seeing a serious increase in happenings in the metaverse with one of the most anticipated ones being Saudi Arabia’s National Day celebrations set to take place on the virtual ecosystem for a pioneering first.

Running from Sept. 22 to the 24th, the celebrations will unfold on the Decentraland Metaverse site for two days, with the Kingdom’s National Day falling on Sept. 23. For this event to come to life, both The King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Partnership and marketing firm The Bold Group joined forces to bring over a new experience to those that want to pay homage and tribute to the Kingdom digitally and from afar.

“Disruptive technologies like the metaverse are the future, and we at The Bold Group aim to be a key player in that evolution,” said Ziad AbuRjaily, Creative Technology Director at the Bold Experience Unit, in a statement.

“The idea to usher the Saudi National Day, a historically traditional celebration, into the new era of technology was inspired by the challenge of convening people across the Kingdom’s 13 different regions to celebrate Saudi Arabia in one virtual space,” he continued.

Abeer Alessa, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Bold Group, added: “We are activating the metaverse in an impactful way by paying tribute to Saudi National Day. Fusing our past with our future, we are honoring the storied history of the Kingdom, preserving our heritage and displaying it with pride for people to engage within the new digital realm.”

Home to one of the world’s youngest populations and one of the highest percentages of internet penetration in the region, it makes sense for the Kingdom to embrace the digital industry. For that reason, the 92nd Saudi National Day celebration will include a computer-generated museum that will spotlight the Gulf State’s history, culture, and heritage while providing a Proof of Attendance Protocol (POAP) to all part-takers of the online event.

What’s more, guests will also be able to get their hands on NFT clothes tailored around specific traditional Saudi clothing for their avatars.
