For a generation raised on
disappearing Instagram Stories and Snapchats, the idea of printing a photograph can feel oddly radical. Yet somewhere between nostalgia and modern-day oversharing, instant photography has found a second life. Fujifilm Instax knows it, and so does Egyptian artist Amira Adeeb. The singer-songwriter has teamed up with Fujifilm Instax Middle East for a new campaign titled
Tasbeera, a collaboration that also serves as Adeeb’s debut sonic release with Warner Music.
If you’ve been paying any attention to Egypt’s buzzing creative scene over the past few years, Adeeb’s name will likely already be familiar. The daughter of actress Manal Salamah and filmmaker Adel Adeeb, she first stepped into the public eye through acting, appearing in productions such as Wadi El Jinn and Hadret El Omda. Yet music has increasingly become the creative lane she’s carving out for herself, allowing her to build an identity distinct from her family’s well-known legacy.
That transition is reflected throughout Tasbeera. Rather than presenting herself as a finished product, Adeeb describes the track as merely “a taste” of what’s still to come. (The Arabic word itself loosely refers to a small sample or preview.) “It’s about my artistic journey, the challenges, and celebrating the hard-won victories. Partnering with Fujifilm Instax felt natural, they believe in capturing real moments, and this song is one of the most real things I’ve made,” said the 26-year-old in a released statement.
It’s a clever pairing. One of the song’s lyrics directly references taking a photo, naturally linking the themes of memory-making and self-expression that sit at the heart of both the music and the brand. And if Tasbeera is truly only a preview, as Adeeb insists, then this campaign may end up being remembered as the first snapshot of a much bigger picture.
