better than roses tbh

Trust Saint Levant to deliver the ultimate Valentine’s Day treat. The part-Palestinian crooner has announced that he is dropping a new EP on Feb. 14, aptly titled Love Letters From Saint Levant. The trilingual singer, born Marwan Abdelhamid, who skyrocketed to fame for his ability to serenade us in French, Arabic, and English, revealed the news on his Instagram on Monday by way of his Instagram Stories, sparking anticipation among his followers for what promises to be a heartfelt collection of tracks.

The new EP is set to have a Side A and a Side B (titled رسائل حب من مروان), with three songs each. There will also be features from the likes of Marwan Moussa, 47Soul, and Qasem AlNajjar, among others. Who needs chocolates and roses when you can have melodies that cross borders and tug at heartstrings?

The new project comes nearly one-year after the debut of his first EP, From Gaza, With Love. “An ode to the place where I spent the first seven years of my life, a beautiful city by the sea filled with love, memories and unfortunately great pain, suffering and oppression,” as per the 24-year-old trilingual singer and rapper,  the sonic project was a heartfelt homage to Abdelhamid’s Middle Eastern roots.  The singer, who was born in Jerusalem to a French-Algerian mother and a Palestinian-Serbian father, went on to make his Coachella debut a month later in April,  playing a set that highlighted the plight of Gaza, alongside songs like Very Few Friends—the rap track that immediately went viral after he released it in November 2022.

The EP was followed up by his first studio album, Deira, eponymously named after a hotel his father once owned in Gaza— which has since been reduced to rubble following recent Israeli aggressions.

Since then, he’s dropped two singles much to the joy of his loyal fans, including Daloona and Exile, a melancholic track paired with a striking music video starring Italian-Moroccan model Malika El-Maslouhi and directed by Algerian filmmaker Lyna Zerrouki. Both of the singles are part of the track list on the forthcoming EP.

So, as Saint Levant queues up to soundtrack your Valentine’s rendezvous with Love Letters From Saint Levant, whether you’re planning a cozy night in or just looking to fill the soundtrack of your own love story, remember: nothing says “I love you” quite like a fresh EP from the heartthrob who can croon in three languages.
