Bahrain Gets a Slick New Boutique Design Hotel

Right in the heart of the vibrant Bab el Bahrain souk

Manama is going through a renaissance of sorts, and the arrival of the newest Campbell Gray hotel is proof. The London-based hotel management group is launching its first property in the GCC: a new, suite-only hotel in Bahrain’s capital—and they’re calling it The Merchant House.

The boutique hotel is set to open its doors this September, and is located a few steps away from the city’s bustling Bab el Bahrain souk.

The highly anticipated luxury hotel will feature a total of 47 suites, all equipped with a kitchen, open-dining area, and a living room. On the rooftop, guests will find an expansive infinity pool and slick gym.

And to commemorate Arab talent, the hotel’s founder, Gordon Campbell Gray, has been putting together a collection of artworks from Bahraini artists and other regional talent to decorate the boutique hotel’s interiors.

To celebrate the opening, Campbell Gray said in a statement: “We are so looking forward to bringing our special brand of hospitality to Bahrain this year with the opening of The Merchant House in Manama. We are confident that with its central location, beautiful facilities and comfortable all-suite accommodation it will be rather special, and we are eager to welcome our first guests through the door.”

The Merchant House will be the second Campbell Gray property in the Middle East—following the launch of the highly successful Le Gray in Beirut. The hotel management group also has plans for another property to open in Amman.
