Virgil Abloh writing on the glass

The New OFF-WHITE x Nike Zooms Are Dropping Next Week

Trainer of the year, hands down

Virgil Abloh writing on the glass

Founder of Milan-based luxury streetwear brand Off-White, and artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear, Virgil Abloh has designed the shoe that everyone is talking about.

The Zoom Terra Kiger 5 is the result of a collaboration between Off-White and Nike and features a nylon upper fringe with suede overlays, and is wrapped by laces in the style of a hiking shoe. The tri-colourway trainer utilises the classic Nike Zoom sole and archival running silhouette, whilst Off-White’s branding can be seen on the medial side of the shoe, and on the zip tie.

The shoe belongs to Nike’s impending ‘Athlete in Progress’ collection, inspired by the shoes worn by influential runners throughout sporting history, and the collection will also be comprised of post-running apparel. To mark the launch of Abloh’s shoe for the collection, South African 800-meter World Champion Caster Semenya stars in the campaign.

Abloh’s collaboration with Nike dates back to 2017, since then he has invited Nike’s elite track and field team to act as forerunners in his S/S 19 runway show.

The highly anticipated release date has been changed on multiple occasions, but June 24 is looking like the first official US release date.
