Marc Jacobs Say’s “Yes” to Dress Luigi Mangione For His Murder Trial
Marc Jacobs and Luigi Mangione are two names we never expected to see together, but fashion works in mysterious ways. During Vanity Fair’s Lie Detector Test, Jacobs was asked whether he would dress Mangione for his trial over the alleged murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. “Um. Yes,” he replied, passing the lie detector before admitting, “I think he looks pretty good the way he dresses, actually.” Mangione’s courtroom wardrobe has already generated its own fashion discourse, with burgundy sweaters reportedly selling out at Nordstrom after he wore one to court, leading Jacobs to agree that the 28-year-old is something of a “trendsetter.” And surprisingly, this wouldn’t be Jacobs’ first brush with courtroom fashion: Winona Ryder, Lil’ Kim, and Courtney Love have all worn his designs while facing charges.
Erin Magee Steps Down as Supreme’s Chief Creative Officer After 22 Years
Another major chapter at Supreme is coming to an end. Chief Creative Officer Erin Magee announced her departure from the New York streetwear giant on Aug. 20 after 22 years with the brand, calling it “the honor of a lifetime” to have been part of the Supreme team. Magee joined in 2004 and went on to help shape some of its most recognizable pieces and collaborations, while simultaneously building her own women’s streetwear label, MadeMe, which has recently collaborated with Dr. Martens, Alpha Industries, and Hole. Her exit arrives amid several years of major change at Supreme, from its acquisition by VF Corp in 2020 and Tremaine Emory’s controversial departure as creative director in 2023 to its sale to EssilorLuxottica in 2024. Supreme hasn’t announced who will replace Magee, leaving another pretty significant creative seat at the brand empty.
BLACKPINK’S JENNIE and adidas Originals Are Teaming Up
JENNIE is taking her relationship with adidas Originals to the next level. After years of fronting campaigns for the Three Stripes, the BLACKPINK star is officially stepping into the designer seat with adidas Originals by JENNIE, her first design-led collection with the sportswear giant. adidas teased the collaboration with a stripped-back video of JENNIE dancing against a black backdrop in a monochrome tracksuit jacket, high-waisted shorts, and dance socks, offering little in the way of actual product details for now. Still, the move from ambassador to co-creator feels like a natural one for a star whose fashion influence has long extended beyond simply wearing the clothes she is paid to promote. We won’t have to wait long to see what that looks like either, with the full collection set to be revealed on Sept. 1.
Louis Vuitton Launches the first La Beauté Collaboration
Louis Vuitton is giving its Monogram the Pat McGrath treatment. To mark both the first anniversary of La Beauté and 130 years of the house’s signature motif, Dame Pat McGrath has teamed up with artistic director Nicolas Ghesquière on the beauty line’s first collaboration, translating two archival Monogram canvases into makeup. The result comes in two very different moods: Monogram Dune is warm and luminous, pairing icy white, rose gold, grey and anise eyeshadows with rosy beige lips, while Monogram Infrarouge goes considerably darker with anthracite and burgundy eyeshadows and a blackcurrant lip. Naturally, the Monogram treatment extends beyond the makeup itself, with refillable embossed packaging and matching leather beauty accessories designed to make your lipstick feel every bit as precious as whatever is hanging from your arm.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez Got Married in Gucci, 10 Years After Meeting in One
Ten years after Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez reportedly first crossed paths at a Gucci store in Madrid, the couple brought the story full circle by getting married head-to-toe in the Italian house. The pair tied the knot on Aug. 11 in an intimate ceremony at their summer home in Cascais, Portugal, attended only by their five children. Ronaldo wore a custom light beige Gucci suit with Horsebit details and matching loafers, while Rodríguez opted for a white silk faille skirt suit, silk shirt, and satin Horsebit shoes. Their children joined the dress code in coordinating white Gucci looks, with the entire family styled by Demna. The choice was sentimental without becoming overly ceremonial, which was precisely Rodríguez’s intention. “I didn’t want us to go into a day that was so simple for us in costumes,” she told Vogue. Following the ceremony, the family traveled to the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima for a private blessing and Mass, before announcing the marriage on Instagram with a photo of their gold wedding bands and the simple caption “C❤️G.” Considering their love story began on a Gucci shop floor, there was probably no other label better suited to dress the ending of one chapter and the beginning of another.
