The World’s Rarest Artworks Are Coming to the Louvre Abu Dhabi

Say hello to Picasso, Chagall and Modigliani

With September comes the Louvre Abu Dhabi’s new season, and this year might just be the museum’s most exciting yet.

This upcoming season represents our boldest and most extensive programme to date,” concluded Manuel Rabaté, Director of the museum, in a statement. Entitled Changing Societies, the new season will be comprised of four exhibitions exploring the ways art has effectively shaped history.

Ever wanted to see Pablo Picasso’s early cubist sketches or Chagall’s modernist masterpieces? The Louvre is about to make that a reality. To kick it off, the museum will be looking to the Paris of the early 20th century, bringing some of the world’s most iconic masterpieces, from Picassos to Modiglianis, to the Middle East for the first time.

Entitled Rendezvous in Paris: Picasso, Chagall Modigliani & Co (1900-1939), the exhibition will be held in partnership with Centre Pompidou, and will see more than 80 works go on display, including Modigliani’s Portrait of Dédie and Juan Gris’ Man from Touraine.

Our new and exciting season is designed to pioneer different ways to engage the museum’s diverse audiences, offering them innovative experiences and a deeper understanding of the universal themes presented in our permanent galleries” added Rabaté.

In October, the museum turns its eyes towards the world of luxury, opening its highly anticipated exhibition entitled 10,000 Years of Luxury, will will explore the history of fashion, jewellery and design in the region.
