Despite having no formal fashion training, Virgil Abloh introduced his first-ever menswear collection for Louis Vuitton last June in Paris, during what was easily the season’s most iconic and emotional show. Predominantly featuring models of colour, the disruptive designer of cult label OFF-WHITE (and Louis Vuitton’s first African-American designer) reminded the whole world about the importance of diversity in fashion, which got him a standing ovation. With streetwear fanatics and fashion aficionados waiting with bated breath for the collection to drop in stores, many have been speculating the anticipated price point of the Illinois-native’s first collection for the French house. Fortunately – we have them.
The collection—which is characterized by clean tailored suits, utilitarian shirts, sportswear-inspired lines and bright colours—is expected to be released worldwide on January 18.
Prices range from $110 USD to a staggering $195,000 USD for a crocodile trench coat, with instant sell-out items from the collection like the yellow brick road sweater and the iridescent keepall bag respectively costing $3,900 USD and $3,850 USD.
While he will present his AW19 collection next week in Paris, Abloh took to his Instagram a couple of days ago to announce his collaboration with Chrome Hearts, where the two have co-created a conceptual space in New York, which will house the SS19 Louis Vuitton collection alongside a selection of exclusive OFF-WHITE x Chrome Hearts pieces.
