If the world constantly races behind time, the Swiss have the right instrument to be able to keep up with it. Whoever you are, and whatever you do, wanting to measure and track how your day goes by is probably at the top of your priorities; and that’s only possible with the help of a reliable timepiece. If Ancient Egyptians were the first to be able to tell time, the Alpine Country has become the master at conceiving the most intricate and elegant devices to trail them — a centuries-long process and history that Helvetian watchmakers at Jaeger-LeCoultre are on a mission to spotlight.
Dubai was chosen the first destination in the luxury time manufacturer’s global tour, where Jaeger-LeCoultre will set up a unique exhibition from Feb. 4 to 23 to unveil all the secrets on how the mysteries of the cosmos are translated into micro-mechanical wonders that capture the universe in miniature, in order to tell the time. The multi-sensorial experience, dubbed The Stellar Odyssey, will take guests and visitors on a journey through the iconic Maison’s history, showcasing a carefully curated selection of its most remarkable timepieces ever created.
Staged on a “floating” pavilion on the waters of the Dubai Fountain against the backdrop of the Burj Khalifa, enthusiasts will delve into the very origins of time tracking, the impact of celestial phenomena on the way humankind measure it, and the influence Jaeger-LeCoultre’s expertise has had in developing wristwatches.
“It is an important part of our mission at Jaeger-LeCoultre to share the secrets behind the art and craft of watchmaking with the wider world by bringing our Manufacture from the Vallée de Joux to the public around the globe,” says Catherine Rénier, CEO of Jaeger-LeCoultre. “The ancient cultures of the Middle East played a seminal role in the origins of time measurement, and we are therefore delighted that Dubai is where the world tour of The Stellar Odyssey makes its debut. It is a special opportunity to trace the unbroken line through several millennia to the exceptional legacy of innovation that has driven our Maison for 190 years and the work that we do today,” the statement continued.
“Through a variety of immersive experiences, The Stellar Odyssey presents different interpretations of the cosmos and its relation to timekeeping, inviting visitors to understand it more deeply,” Rénier added.
Light, sound, and movement will collectively be used to take visitors on an immersive trip through history, uncovering every nook and corner of the industry’s best-kept secrets, its age-old practices, and what role Jaeger-LeCoultre has played in its development. To add to the excitement, an exclusive menu of soft mocktails inspired by the cosmos, will be provided at the Stellar Atelier, bringing the right range of refreshments to follow you through your journey through, and about, time. Crafted by renowned French mixologist Matthias Giroud, his tailor-made carte du jour is inspired by the colors, temperatures, and forms of stars and planets, and combines ingredients from la Vallée de Joux with enticing scents and flavors from different corners of the globe.
The Stellar Odyssey will be presented from Saturday 4th to Thursday 23rd February 2023 at the Dubai Fountain, Downtown Dubai, open daily from 2:00pm to 12.00 am. Register for tickets now at online-booking.jaeger-lecoultre.com.
