Valentine’s Day Traveler’s Checklist

Roses are red, travel is expensive

Oh yes, it’s that time of year again. February is here, and we all know what that means. Valentine’s day mania is set to descend once more. Yes, the florists, the restaurant bookings, the Ubers, the cards, balloons and chocolates – Valentine’s has officially entered the chat.

If you’re anything like us, you want to get away from the city bustle, and you’re thinking of the travel opportunities. The scramble for this year’s romantic getaways is real. Whether you are going for a desert staycation or a trip to a faraway island, the MILLE research team have been painstakingly developing a Valentine’s day checklist to ensure that your Valentine’s day travels don’t go off without a hitch. Here are the top 5 things to take with you on your romantic retreat.

1. Attire

This one kind of goes without saying, you wouldn’t want to travel without looking positively fantastic, would you?

So guys it’s time to get a nice suit jacket, brown brogues and that cool shirt you bought last year but haven’t got around to wearing. Ladies, we know how difficult it can be shopping around for the perfect piece. But please, please, pretty please don’t go to H&M, there’s nothing more embarrassing than getting to that beauty spot and realizing half of the restaurant is wearing the same dress as you. Check out Namshi, there’s still time.

2. Reusable Water Bottle

Single use plastic is so 2021. It’s time to get a sleek cool refillable water bottle. There are plenty of options to choose from, online shopping is your best friend.

And let’s face it, there’s a 50% possibility that this bottle won’t just be containing water, but you get the idea. Alternatively you can get real balady-chic and just bring a zeer.

3. Candles

Because no Valentine’s night is complete with candles. The romance is in the air, so why not illuminate the room, and add some enticing organic scents too. They are a perfect compliment, for a good meal with your partner.

Aside from the obvious fire hazard regarding the candle. They’re very aesthetic and what’s more they’re relatively cheap too. Just remember to blow them out when you’re done, thanks.

4. Solar Powerbank

Want to listen to tunes? Want to go live on IG? Want to order that 3am Uber back to the chalet? – You’re going to need a phone for that.

It’s too easy to forget the important things in life after the third Long Island but one thing you shouldn’t forget is a Solar Powerbank. These things are a savior. They charge all day on the beach and you use them all night. Be the hero that no one asked for, but everyone needs and pack one of these!

5. Portable Shataf

There’s something odd about Western culture, with their technological advances and homogenous societies, one could only assume that they would have made the switch from paper – because, come on guys really – but it appears our pleas for a change in bathroom etiquette have fallen on deaf ears. Don’t leave home without a portable blast of refreshing H2O.

If you’re one of those lucky enough to be traveling abroad this Valentine’s, make sure you pack this little badboy. They’re lightweight, they’re discreet, they’re literally every Arab traveler’s dream-come-true.

Wherever you travel to this Valentine’s make sure you stay safe, stay out of trouble and don’t do anything we wouldn’t do!
