From creating their own card game with ‘We’re Not Really Strangers’ to teaming up with Boiler Room on a live music series, Valentino has proved that it’s more than just a fashion house. Now, the Italian brand is embarking on a mission to find the world’s next big writers.

In an initiative to create a wider and more diverse community, Valentino has teamed up with TIME 100 Nigerian-American author Tomi Adeyemi to help students from different backgrounds enroll in her online writing course, The Writer’s Roadmap.

“Valentino is proud to be involved in the project as it continues to support growth and education programs designed to enrich the worlds of art and literature, cultivating creativity and fostering community,” said the Italian fashion house in a statement.

Last December, Valentino launched an open call for students from across the globe to share an IG post using the hashtag #WritersRoadmapxValentino, explaining why they would like to take part in the course. After hundreds of submissions, Valentino awarded 50 selected aspiring authors with scholarships for the workshop.

“This program has allowed me to continue learning and growing as a writer all while being surrounded by like-minded people who want to do the exact same thing,” Erynne Hundley, a selected student said.

Throughout 2021, the New York Times bestselling author will mentor the emerging writers to improve their writing skills, delve deeper into their stories and develop a personal voice. Her empowering voice will be of important guidance to help students chart and organize their works of writing as well as give them encouragement and tips on how to hone their craft.
