We Asked Watch Enthusiasts for their Top Picks

From Watches and Wonders

Picture this: convention, a trade show of sorts, but instead of the hustle and bustle of such events, every stand features the most luxurious, high-tech and experiential discovery filled with installations, unique creations, and dreamy storytelling. That’s exactly what this year’s Watches and Wonders was like.

In a world where easiness, quickness, and simple concepts prevail, here, for a week, complication and craftsmanship were the most treasured values. Beyond time, the Geneva-held event was a celebration of all the artisans and engineers tasked with making a small object as intricate and evocative as can be.

A visit at the Van Cleef and Arpel’s space displaying incredibly complicated mechanical automates, clinically hand painted with materials as fragile as egg shells and precious stones was nothing short of enchanting. Montblanc brought mountaineer and Netflix star of 14 Peaks Nirmal Purja, IWC had huge container installations celebrating their new Top Gun edition Pilot watch, Panerai created an underwater world. Chopard had an out of this world experience room with a 360 degrees projection a sound experience to match.

One cannot go to such events and not imagine a virtual shopping spree; this is why we asked friends of MILLE and watch lovers to pick their top picks from the salon.

Vacheron Constantin – Historiques 222

Historiques 222

“Reissue of an iconic model and full gold. Elegant and timeless.”

Vacheron ConstantinOverseas Tourbillon Skeleton

“This overseas in a skeleton version is very sexy. I find the Overseas quite boring compared to the Patek Philippe Nautilus or the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak but this version in rose gold and skeleton looks very special.”

Patek Philippe – Annual Calendar Moon Phases

Annual Calendar Moon Phases

“The best watch of Watches and Wonders according to me is the Annual calendar: iconic Patek Philippe mechanism, the rose gold and green olive dial and strap. It will become iconic.”

Patek Philippe – Chronograph

“The calendar perpetual salmon dial is a very complete time piece as it is also a chronograph. Now that Patek Philippe discontinued its 5270P with salmon dial, this piece can become iconic.”

IWC – Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Top Gun Edition

Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 TOP GUN Ceratanium® - SD
