And Burna Boy brings afrobeat to Dubai

If there’s one thing the region’s streetwear enthusiasts look forward to all year, it’s Sole DXB. The festival is making a return next month, and whilst we can’t wait to see our favourite labels take over this year’s fair, we’re just as eager for the concerts coming up.

The three-day festival is set to take over Dubai Design District starting December 5 with an all-things Jamaica theme. And just as we’d guessed, dancehall takes centre stage. But it’s the headliner that’s taken us by surprise.

Sole DXB has confirmed that Wu-Tang Clan will be taking the stage as well as Nigeria’s Burna Boy and British grime rapper Wiley. So, if you were still debating to get your tickets, you might want to snag some before it’s too late.

Dave East and Jamaican raggae singer Koffee are also on the bill. The region’s very own, Narcy is set to take the stage, followed by performances by American rapper Rico Nasty and Ocean Wisdom.

It doesn’t end there. Yasiin Bey and Talib Kweli will perform as well.

Since its launch in 2010, Sole DXB has solidified itself as the region’s go-to event, drawing in over 30,000 visitors last year. And one thing for sure, it never disappoints. Last year’s edition saw the regional debut of hip-hop icon Nas, grime artist Giggs and Blood Orange.

Of course, the festival’s annual competitive streetball tournament Sole Ball Above All Classic, held in partnership with Nike, is set to take place from December 5-7. And if you’re looking to expand your sneaker collection, make sure you check out this year’s Sneaker Swap.
