You Don’t Want to Miss Chanel’s Première Funfair In Dubai This Week

Consider your weekend plans, sorted

It is said that Coco Chanel didn’t wear watches. Instead, she would borrow timepieces from her lovers so that she could wear them. It wasn’t until 1987, 16-years after the legendary designer’s death, that the Parisian maison unveiled its first watch. Simply named “Première,” the ultra-feminine timepiece featured all of the codes of Chanel’s unmistakable style, though it was not designed by her. Created by Jacques Helleu, the black-and-gold watch boasts an angular, octagonal dial inspired by the No. 5 fragrance stopper, meanwhile its bracelet is a nod to the interlaced leather chain of the iconic quilted flap bag. Since then, there have been countless variations of the Première, from diamond to pearls, but the original signature lady’s watch remains the most classic.

Now, 36-years after its inception, Chanel is dedicating a site-specific amusement park in Dubai to celebrate the iconic watch. The Chanel Première Funfair will open on March 15 to 19 in Dubai Downtown, inviting guests to discover the magic of the timepiece through five unique attractions inspired by different facets of the Première watch. Open from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday and from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. from Friday to Sunday, Chanel lovers and watch aficionados in the UAE have no excuse to miss it.
