Dubbed Love is Blind, Habibi, the reality series will run across nine episodes. The premise sees a group of single men and women dating through purpose-built pods, with the goal of falling in love and getting engaged all without knowing what the other person looks like. Presented by Saudi power couple Elham Ali and Khaled Saqr— who are both actors and renowned TV personalities— prospective love birds will only meet once they’ve decided to make their relationship official, adding to the excitement and pressure of finding true-love unseen.
Set in the UAE, Love is Blind, Habibi– which is the latest Arabic adaption of an unscripted series, following the success of Dubai Bling and The Real Housewives of Dubai– will be the first show to put Arab dating culture under the spotlight, mixing traditional values with the show’s own modern, unconventional approach to finding love.
An official trailer of the show was released this week, providing intrigued-viewers with a sneak peek into the emotional rollercoaster that will drive the series, as participants take the ultimate blind leap of faith for love.In a recently shared-statement, Netflix explained that through this local adaptation, the series wants to offer “a unique opportunity to explore the rich diversity of Arab traditions and cultural nuances that influence love and marriage across the Arab world.” They also added that the show’s concept “has been thoughtfully fine-tuned to resonate with the cultures and traditions of the region.”
