Zuhair Murad’s Fall 2026 Couture Collection Had Us Dreaming in Sequins

Public service announcement for anyone still trying to bag #her: a Zuhair Murad gown is probably the fastest route to her heart. The Lebanese couturier—widely regarded as one of couture’s undisputed masters—returned to Paris Haute Couture Week with a Fall 2027 Couture collection destined for award-season mood boards, wedding Pinterests and every fashion lover’s wish list.

Inside a dimly lit venue that felt even hotter than the streets of Paris—thankfully, branded fans were waiting on every seat—we got our first look at what Murad had been working on this season. The Couture show began a little later than planned thanks to one last-minute arrival: Jennifer Lopez. But when one of the world’s most celebrated artists walks in, you wait. And judging by what followed, every extra minute was worth it.Looking back, it is true that Murad did what he does best: glamour without compromise. Sequins caught every flicker of light, crystal embroidery shimmered with every step, and impossibly precise draping reminded the audience why his name remains synonymous with red-carpet dressing. But beneath all the sparkle laid a collection with a deeper message. Rather than sending out princesses waiting to be rescued or a damsel in distress, the Ras Baalbek-born designer imagined women who had already weathered every storm; individuals, or should we say an ideal of one, that was powerful, composed and completely in control.

As the show notes explain, “she has endured life’s trials and emerged a queen.” And that sense of resilience ran through the collection, where sweeping velvet capes, sculptural silhouettes, and intricate embellishment felt less like displays of opulence than symbols of self-assurance. Every crystal, feather, and embroidered butterfly served a purpose beyond decoration, reinforcing the confidence of a woman who never needed to prove her strength because it was already evident.

That duality surfaced throughout the runway. Rich black velvet and deep wine-hued satin brought weight and authority to Murad’s signature silhouettes, while feathered capes and weightless chiffon softened them without ever diminishing their presence. Murad also exercised a surprising amount of restraint. Yes, the crystals were there (this is Zuhair Murad, after all), but they rarely overwhelmed the garments themselves. Instead, embellishment was used to guide the eye, tracing the contours of sharply tailored jackets, highlighting sculptural draping and illuminating gowns rather than swallowing them whole.

One detail we couldn’t stop thinking about was the butterfly mouthpiece. At first glance, it looked like a simple styling flourish. But the longer you looked, the more it felt like an integral part of the character Murad was building. Suspended delicately over the model’s lips, it introduced an air of mystery, as if beauty didn’t need to announce itself to be felt. It wasn’t loud or theatrical, yet it became one of the collection’s most memorable accessories precisely because of its restraint. In a runway filled with crystals, sweeping trains and impeccable embroidery, it proved that sometimes the smallest details leave the biggest impression.
