It’s impossible to step out in Dubai without running into someone wearing Balenciaga. Whether it’s the luxury Parisian label’s wraparound Matrix sunglasses, oversized logo-emblazoned hoodies, or chunky sneakers, Balenciaga has practically woven itself into the fabric of the average Dubai tastemaker’s uniform. So it’s hardly surprising that the French label helmed by Demna (formerly Demna Gvasalia) is expanding its physical footprint in the city.
Last week, Balenciaga cut the ribbon on its second store in Dubai. The store, perched on the second floor of the Mall of the Emirates, also happens to be its biggest flagship in the Middle East, spanning 500 square meters. The store includes the latest Balenciaga men’s and women’s collections, including ready-to-wear and accessories.
In celebration of the opening, the brand presented an exhibition of pieces from the 50th, 51st, and 52nd Couture Collections, as well as exclusive items from the Balenciaga Couture Store in Paris, in addition to hosting a cocktail at the store in the presence of the brand’s CEO Cedric Charbit.
