Gigi and Bella Hadid Receive Death Threats For Supporting Palestine

Mohamed Hadid is considering going to the FBI

According to TMZ, all members of the Hadid family— from Palestinian real estate mogul Mohamed Hadid and Dutch reality television star Yolanda Hadid, to their children Gigi, Bella, and Anwar— have received death threats over their support for Palestine.

A source told the publication that the threats are coming from strangers through emails, social media, and their own cell phones. “They’ve had random people hitting them up with horrific sentiments… including graphic descriptions of how they would carry out the Hadids’ executions,” reports TMZ.

Allegedly, the threats have gotten so bad that the entire family has had to change their phone numbers (which have been leaked online) and Mohamed has even considered seeking assistance from the FBI.

After Hamas’s surprise attack on Israel on Oct. 7, and the endless cycle of bloodshed that followed on both sides, Gigi took to her Instagram Stories to show her support for Palestine. “There’s nothing Jewish about the Israeli government’s treatment of Palestinians,” she posted. “Condemning the Israeli government is not antisemitic and supporting Palestinians is not supporting Hamas,” continued the post.

Shortly after, the Instagram account of the official government of Israel publicly responded to the model, accusing her of “turning a blind eye to Jewish babies being butchered in their homes.”

“We see you,” they warned her.

Gigi’s father was born in Nazareth in 1948. He and his family became refugees during the first Nakba after they were forcibly removed from their homes by the family that they were sheltering.

It’s not the first time that the Hadid sisters have been attacked for their pro-Palestine stance. In 2021, The New York Times ran a full page ad— organized, produced and paid for by Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, the head of the World Values Network— that condemned the part-Palestinian models as well as British-Albanian popstar Dua Lipa for showing solidarity with the people of Palestine, labeling them as “mega-influencers” who have “accused Israel of ethnic cleansing” and “vilified the Jewish State.”
