Founded in 2009, Athr Gallery has maintained its status as the city’s leading contemporary art gallery. The 20,000 square-metre space houses the work of artists from the Middle East and around the globe.
Darat Safeya Binzagr
Safeya Binzagr is known as a pioneer in Saudi Arabia’s art scene. The artist, who was brought up in Egypt by her Saudi family, eventually returned to her home of Jeddah and opened her gallery Darat Safeya Binzagr in 1995, where her paintings were showcased to the public.
Founded just a few years ago, in 2014, Hafez Gallery showcases the work of contemporary art, while their focus is on shining a light on Saudi talent, the gallery also displays the work of other Middle Eastern and international artists.
Desert Designs Art Gallery
Desert Designs is a family run business that opened its doors in 1990. The space was initially a desert tent, and eventually transformed in to a modern gallery space on King Abdullah Street. Among the art displayed are tribal Bedouin pieces, as well as contemporary work by some of the region’s leading artists.
