In the past, choosing a hotel was pretty easy; and the fact that we didn’t have to subject anyone else to see where we were staying made even the ugliest hotel rooms passable.
But with social media practically running our lives, nearly everyone makes decisions on where to visit and which hotel to book based on the property’s ‘instagrammability’—a made-up word that’s become synonymous with beauty, symmetry and envy-inducing views.
And these claims aren’t based on assumptions; a new report by hotels.com corroborates this fact. Confirming that one in six people actually book their holidays based on social media—and dubbed the phenomenon ‘insta-travel’.
Through the data gathered, they’ve also rounded up the hotels at the top of travellers’ lists—with the craziest views and outrageous rooftop pools.
