Kanye and Drake Are Beefing (Again)

Picking it up where they (literally) left it

We all already knew that Drake and Kanye were in each-others bad books. But both rappers have taken it to the gram again to settle scores, and it’s the Canadian MC who tipped over the first domino. Appearing on Trippie Redd’s track Betrayal, Drake carefully saves a handful of lines to address Kim K’s now ex-husband. Pointing his finger at West’s advancing age and pseudo-senile behaviour, Drake clearly seems like he’s not afraid to reignite old beef. And he probably should.

Days following, Ye showed no mercy by revealing Drake’s Toronto address online with a screenshot text message, involving Pusha T, suggesting ruthless revenge. Only adding more fuel to the fire, both artists, whose long-expected albums are still delayed for unclear reasons, are somehow managing to keep their respective audiences entertained while patiently waiting for their tapes to (finally) come out.

It’s not the first time the two brawl. Back in 2018, speculations around “In My Feels”, one of Scorpion lustful hits, rose as to whether the Toronto-based artist was referring to Kim Kardashian through the nickname Kiki that is enticingly repeated throughout the song’s chorus. Alluding to an affair or confessing his love-coated feelings towards the controversial celebrity (or simply just to mess around), the song was at the back, front and centre of the venomous dispute and is probably going to be granted a rendition of it to spark some more matches.

Having each sold out most, to not say,  all international stages at their peak while snapping awards and prestigious prizes year in, year out for the past decade, the two overly-acclaimed figures are more rubbing salt into a deep wound that we only hope won’t escalate in a scene that is far too used to losing its shining stars to silly confrontations and petty arguments.
