Decoding Drake’s Hijabi Girl in London Style

Mashallah sister Drake

There’s always a sliding scale when it comes to Drake’s fashion choices, one that oscillates between corny sleaze-ball and Kuwaiti girl in London. And with his choice of a long houndstooth jacket for his latest ootd mirror pic, the rapper was undeniably hijabi girl coded as he posed rather seriously on the ‘Gram. Reminiscent of the kinds of coats you will often see on Oxford Street, the only thing that separated the Toronto rapper’s aesthetic from that of your average Khaleeji girls’ was the absence of a white, neatly secured headscarf from Vela. Instead, his polished ensemble consisted of a cream-colored pleated polo shirt, grey trousers, and brown leather loafers. Adding fuel to the meme-worthy look, even his hair was laid in a way that it would be under a hijab.

Of course, it’s not the first time the hitmaker nailed the hijab fit aesthetic. Back in 2020, the Canadian rapper went viral for seemingly wearing the Nike Pro Hijab in his music video for Toosie Slide, sparking all kinds of memes in the process. Paired with a black hoodie, camo bomber jacket, and black trackies, it was the kind of outfit modest streetwear influencers would wear abroad.

Like most of Drake’s fashion moments, we’ll never know if this latest sleek look was a serious style statement or not. Nonetheless, it will certainly be on the Pinterest moodboards of rich Omanis studying in London for years to come.
