A$AP Rocky’s Comeback Is Not What You Think

with than man like Denzel Washington

A$AP Rocky may be known more for being a certified hitmaker and bonafide style icon, but what many fans may not be aware of is the Harlem-born rapper is also a really good actor, too. The artist, who has previously starred in the 2015 comedy film Dope and Netflix’s 2018 legal drama Monster is set to join the cast of filmmaker Spike Lee’s next cinematic venture.

About four years since his last release, the 67-year-old director has enlisted Pretty Flacko to play a role in his upcoming project titled High & Low. The forthcoming feature, a remake of the Akira Kurosawa classic thriller of the same name, will revolve around the life of a successful businessman, Kingo Gondo, who receives a chilling call from a kidnapper claiming to have abducted his son and demanding a ransom for his release. However, after learning that the child in question is actually his chauffeur’s, and not his own, Gondo is faced with a moral dilemma: protect his family and fortune or save this innocent child.

It’s been reported that the rapper will play a character named “Yung Felon.” While not much has been revealed about his upcoming role, it’s safe to assume that, with a name like that, he will likely not be playing the good guy.

Developed and produced by American entertainment company A24 and co-financed by tech giants Apple, the blockbuster in the making will see A$AP Rocky act alongside multi-award-winning actor Denzel Washington and New-York rap sensation Ice Spice who will be making her big-screen debut in this star-studded lineup.

This will be the fifth collaborative effort between Washington and Lee, who will be marking their return to the creative stage for the first time since their last joint venture, Inside Man. Currently in development, the film is slated for release in 2025.
