Fashion Trust Arabia is Heading to Marrakesh For its 6th Edition

from one regional capital to the other

Over the years, Fashion Trust Arabia (FTA) has built a proud reputation for being a staunch advocate for emerging designers from the region. By providing recipients of its annual flagship award with significant financial support and invaluable mentorship from several industry-recognized figures, the platform spearheaded by Lebanese fashion editor Tania Fares is specifically aimed at celebrating and supporting emerging Arab designers.

Held in Doha, Qatar, since the initiative’s launch in 2018, this year, organizers of the esteemed awards ceremony announced they are switching things up for the sixth edition. This week, it has been announced that the next iteration of the prestigious event will be held in the Moroccan south, precisely in Marrakech, marking a major shift in how the revered gathering has traditionally been set up.

Aimed at honoring the ongoing 2024 Qatar-Morocco Year of Culture partnership — a collaboration in which both Arab nations organize cross-cultural events in each respective country — the next edition of FTA will welcome guests from around the world to both explore and celebrate the North African Kingdom’s heritage while upholding the next crop of distinguished designers from across the Arab World.  From what we know, the format of the finalists’ showcase, judges’ deliberation, and awards ceremony will remain consistent with previous editions though several satellite events will be added, the details of which will be communicated at a later stage.

In the meantime, FTA has chosen to mark its recent decision with the production of a video spotlighting Moroccan creatives, from all over the cultural spectrum, each showcasing a specific aspect of the country’s artistic identity in their own way, style, and medium. Among the stellar roster of names involved in the project are creative director Zineb Koutten, Late For Work founder Youssef Drissi, photographer Joseph Ouechen, and rising model Salima El Mahraoui.
