Is Kanye West Performing at MDLBEAST Soundstorm?

everything we know

The region’s largest music festival, MDLBEAST Soundstorm has announced on its official Instagram that it will be welcoming rapper Ye (formerly known as Kanye West) as a last-minute addition to its star-studded lineup of artists for this year’s edition of the annual music festival, which kicked off on Dec. 14.

According to the announcement on Thursday,  the Atlanta-born rapper will be accompanied by “friends” on the event’s main record-breaking stage. However, the exact time and date of Ye’s highly-anticipated performance remain shrouded in mystery.

Gearing up for what is set to be his debut in Saudi Arabia, the American hitmaker is poised to mark a mighty moment in the country’s cultural landscape, underscoring its allure to both up-and-coming and established artists.

Last month, the Graduation singer was spotted in AlUla, where he recorded part of his upcoming joint album with Ty Dolla $ign, Vultures. More recently, he jumped on stage with Lil Durk during a club appearance in Dubai where he teased some exclusive unreleased tracks. The Soundstorm performance comes just 24-hours after him and Ty Dolla $ign hosted their second rave for Vultures in Las Vegas on Thursday night.

Coinciding with the release of what will be the inaugural studio album of the new hip-hop duo who call themselves ¥$, the most prominent theory suggests that the 46-year-old will be orchestrating an open-air listening party at the heart of the event, inviting all attendees to get a get a live preview of the rap duo’s latest work.

On the brink of etching itself into the annals of music history by providing a stage for one of our era’s most defining artists, Soundstorm is further cementing its position as a cultural epicenter through this unexpected move. Featuring hitmakers from all over the world—  including Houston rapper Travis Scott, rock legends Metallica, and Nigerian Afrobeat icon Wizkid— we didn’t think that the lineup could have got any more exciting. But boy, were we wrong.
