North West Is Working On Her Debut Album— ‘Elementary School Dropout’

it’s your bestie, miss miss westie

Off the back of the release of Ye’s latest collaborative studio album, Vultures 1, featuring California-born rapper Ty Dolla Sign (TY$), circulating rumors have it that the rapper might have another project in the pipeline. Only this time, fans could be in for a sonic gift from his eldest child with ex-wife Kim Kardashians, North. The news came during a Vultures 1 listening party in Phoenix over the weekend, where the 10-year-old surprised fans by joining her father live to reveal that she is currently working on her first solo album.

“I’ve been working on an album,” North told a cheering crowd. “And it’s called ‘Elementary School Dropout’,” she also added.

Referencing her old man’s breakout album dubbed The College Dropout —which was released in 2004 and which established Ye (formerly known as Kanye West) as one of the most exciting artists of his generation— the pre-teen appeared eager to pick up the family torch and continue her father’s legacy in the global music arena. While we are yet to receive any specific information regarding the genre or style she’ll be exploring, one can only anticipate her to be following in her progenitor’s footsteps and continuing in the direction she has taken in her first few ventures made in the industry so far. Perhaps we’ll get “Late Middle School Registration” and “High School Graduation” next?

North’s latest featuring on a Vultures 1 track with her dad earned her a spot on the Billboard Hot 100. The song, titled Talking, which is also shared with TY$, even etched itself in history as its entry on the list made the aspiring singer one of the youngest to ever chart on the American popularity-ranking list since its launch.

According to an interview with I-D, music is apparently far from being North’s sole focus as she appears to have her sights set on various career paths within the realms of art. In conversation with the British youth-centered publication, the magazine’s cover star claimed to want to become a basketball player and a rapper at first before confessing that she had since changed her mind. Instead, she’d now rather own her parents’ respective companies, Yeezy and SKIMS, but as it seems, only time will tell where North’s ambitions will eventually lead her.
