Skepta is known as a true legend of the grime music scene, but these days, the British rapper has recently began trying his hand at house music. In addition to producing electronic tunes, the Shutdown hitmaker’s pivot to house music has also seen him DJ’ing at clubs in Ibiza, London, and Miami, alongside fellow member of Boy Better Know (BBK), Jammer.
Following a string of successful gigs, the duo decided to launch their very own house music label, Más Tiempo. Translating to “more time” in Spanish, the label officially launched with a two-track EP and a party at London’s KOKO last April, and featured performances from Benji B and DJ Maximum, among others. Now, the former members of N.A.S.T.Y Crew are bringing their iconic party to Dubai’s desert.
While details about the forthcoming event are still under wraps, we do know that the desert rave will take place this December, though the location is still undisclosed. Those who are eager to attend can visit www.mastiempo.ae, where they can fill out a form to stay updated on tickets, pricing, and more.
According to Skepta, the inspiration to launch Más Tiempo came to them after their joint gig at Circoloco at Ibiza’s DC-10 super club back in August. “We had a lot of good responses from that show, a lot of DJs and producers started reaching out to us. I think when people heard the set and saw what we were doing, they realized that we were taking it seriously,” he told The Face magazine. “People welcomed us with open arms, so we just thought, we produce as well– we’re not just DJs– so it makes sense for us to release music that we produce.”
It won’t be the award-winning MC’s first time performing in the region— he previously headlined Sole DXB in 2016.
