With a selective ear for new sounds that have not yet made their way onto the dance floor, The Ego Records founder and DJ steers clear of overhyped and overplayed sounds. With its deafening and unexpected bassline hopping on a house beat, South Africa’s distinct version of electronic dance music, amapiano, is slowly and surely making its way into every club, DJ set, and playlists, in the Kingdom and beyond all thanks to 3insahms, who has taken the genre and introduced it to the Kingdom, making him one of the first DJ’s to do so, alongside Afrobeats, and a plethora of unique soundwaves.
Recently, the music curator graced the walls of MILLE’s very own office in Saudi Arabia’s artistic hub JAX district, accompanied by additional Saudi-based DJ’s, Ahmed Al-Gublan, AKA Ahmedena, and Nasser al-Qahtani, who also goes by Prodbynasr. The B2B or, as the DJ group likes to call their trio, A2A— which stands for A Journey to Another— two hour-set saw culturally induced fusions, with oud-like and sitar sounds played over melodic house beats, voice-overs, an array of cleverly manipulated electric beats, jazzy hues, and oh-so much more.
