Yasiin Bey’s New Art Installation is Coming to the UAE

From Art Basel Hong Kong to Dubai

It’s been a while since we’ve seen any new music from Yasiin Bey, but as of last month, the rapper finally debuted a new album, but except there’s a catch: you can only hear it inside a gallery.

Although the music won’t ever be released physically or digitally, you’ll be happy to hear that the project is heading to the region, at none other than Dubai’s The Third Line gallery in Alserkal Avenue. Entitled Negus, the sound installation was created in collaboration with a group of artists the rapper recorded with in London back in 2015.

The travelling installation made its debut at Art Basel Hong Kong earlier this month, and will continue to make its way to various locations across the world, taking a different shape in each city.

As for the Dubai iteration, the installation will feature a single five-minute long composition produced by Lord Tusk, by the name of Dream Study.  The exhibit will also feature new work by Iranian artist Nima Nabavi, which was inspired by the composition itself.

Negus runs until June 4  at The Third Line Gallery, Alserkal Avenue
