It was a rainy day in Lombardy when privileged clients, buyers, and guests made their way towards Via San Luca— a busy street in intra-muros Milan that played host to Aigner’s Spring 2024 ready-to-wear show.
Drawing inspiration from the late 19th-century arts and crafts movement, the new collection’s focal point shined on two exclusive limited-edition bag series: the CYBILL Bag Honeysuckle and the NOVA Bag Honeysuckle. Crafted with meticulous care by Aigner’s creative director Christian Beck, the latest additions to the brand’s lineup of accessories highlit Aigner’s long-standing commitment to artisanal detailing, perfectly capturing the collection’s overarching theme.
The CYBILL Bag Honeysuckle, a new rendition of the iconic CYBILL Bag Stretch, boasted a globally recognized patent for its name, making it truly one-of-a-kind. Available in medium and mini sizes, this new iteration showcased enchanting pearl and luxe blue color variations, with a floral motif expertly applied onto the leather by using advanced digital printing techniques. Much like all CYBILL Bags, the Honeysuckle editions were handcrafted at Aigner’s Italian partner factory, ensuring the highest standards of quality and stitching.
On the other hand, the NOVA Bag Honeysuckle drew inspiration from the label’s archives. Its design language celebrated beauty through simplicity, offering a striking contrast to the vibrancy of its sister rendition. The horseshoe-shaped handles subtly paid homage to Aigner’s brand identity, adding a layer of timeless elegance. Crafted without compromising on quality, each NOVA Bag Honeysuckle is adorned by a floral image from British artist William Morris made from woven jacquard, which was also developed and produced in a small manufactory in Italy.
As for the clothing, each look radiated an airy sense, offering generous space for the body to float in comfort. Despite the predominant focus on women’s fashion this season, Aigner pleasantly surprised with a couple of men’s ensembles that seemed perfect for evening affairs and social gatherings, though they were not tailored in a traditional manner.
In the realm of womenswear, the collection followed a similar path, showcasing a versatile array of outfits suitable for both professional settings and post-work events. The collection emphasized women’s empowerment, accentuated through shoulder-fit cuts, sleek short tailored jackets, and slit dresses making use of a color palette that ranged from muted and subtle to bright and vibrant. Each ensemble was complemented by a leather bag, available in various sizes and shapes, from small to oversized, alongside a set of accessories that had offered everything from pearl necklaces to silver armbands and bracelets.
