Dubai Bans Alcohol Until Further Notice

Say goodbye to your favourite pub, for now.

Dubai’s bars and clubs might have opened, but grabbing a quick drink at your favourite watering hole won’t be easy. Dubai Police has just banned all venues from serving alcohol, until further notice.

Looking to grab a drink? You’ll have to settle for one at a restaurant. “We would like to inform you that it has been decided to close all bars and pubs and stop serving alcoholic beverages as of Wednesday 24/06/2020 until further notice. Kindly inform and abide by the decision to close in order to avoid legal issues. You will be notified to restart at a later time,” announced the police force in a notice sent to the gulf city’s bars and pubs.

There’s no word on when establishments will be able to serve alcohol again. This isn’t the first time this has been done. An identical alcohol ban was put in place at the end of May, when the UAE eased its COVID-19 restrictions. The ban was eventually revoked on June 19, and has now been reinstated.
