Founded by Goodfellas actor Robert DeNiro, film producer Meir Teper, and Japanese chef Nobu Matsuhisa, the acclaimed consortium of full-service resorts has been garnering attention worldwide for its fusion of “modern cool luxury and minimal Japanese tradition.” Through 18 locations, scattered across Europe, the United States, the Philippines, and Mexico, since its founding in 1994 the luxury hospitality group has been labeled one of the high-end industry’s Most Innovative Brands, per American lifestyle magazine Robb Report. The American company’s foray into the Egyptian market will reaffirm its presence in the Arab World as it will be building on the success of its first Nobu brand in the region in Marrakech.

According to the information shared thus far, Nobu will mark its debut in the Land of the Pharaohs with the help and close assistance of local real estate developers Sodic. On the North Coast, the Miami-based brand will be unveiling its signature hotel and restaurant, sprawling over 440 acres of beachfront terrain, which will operate seasonally from May through October upon its launch. As for its flagship location in Cairo, the forthcoming properties will be nestled on the Western flank of the City, precisely in New Zayed, and are set to include a “meticulously planned expanse of single-family residences and exclusive apartments.” Additionally, residents will enjoy direct transfers and access to the sister site in Ras El Hikma, providing guests with hassle-free escapes to the pristine beaches and luxurious accommodations located just a stone’s throw away.

“Our partnership with Nobu is a testament to SODIC’s ability to attract world-class international partners. Nobu’s iconic brand perfectly complements our signature projects, offering “The Estates” and our newest North Coast development communities a seamless and exceptional experience of integrated vibrant hospitality and high-end dining at the highest standards of luxury,” said SODIC’s General Manager, Ayman Amer.

“We are extremely excited about our partnership with SODIC and the launch of these two exceptional projects. Egypt holds a rich history and a vibrant culture, making it an ideal canvas for us to create remarkable spaces that epitomize the essence of Nobu’s luxury and innovation. These developments will not only redefine luxury living but also offer a distinct blend of hospitality and lifestyle experiences for our guests and residents,” Trevor Horwell, CEO of Nobu Hospitality, also shared.

As per the latest updates, Nobu’s expansion into Egypt is just one facet of a broader strategy encompassing 21 properties currently under development around the globe. These include two openings in the UAE: one on Abu Dhabi’s Saadiyat Island and another on Ras Al Khaimah’s Marjan Island. While the estate on Saadiyat Island is expected to feature a total of 165 guest rooms and suites as well as a restaurant— set to fling its doors open by 2026— the location in Ras Al Khaimah will also include 300 branded luxury residences on top of its own hotel and Nobu restaurant. As of now, a completion date for this project is yet to be announced.
