Turkish Hitmaker Emir Taha Kicks Off BRED 2024 in Major Style

The 2024 BRED Festival is off to a stylish start thanks to a little help from Emir Taha and Les Benjamins. The Turkish RnB singer hit the stage on Wednesday to deliver some of his chart-topping hits from his latest project, E.T. Phone Home, wearing a head-to-toe look from the Istanbul-based luxury streetwear brand, simultaneously offering a masterclass in cool festival style.

The 27-year-old took to the stage on the first day of the neo-cultural gathering wearing a full white look that consisted of a pair of trousers and a jacket thrown over a T-shirt from the label’s Kismet Voyage collection, which is available to shop at the Les Benjamin’s booth on the BRED festival grounds. The trousers and matching blazer featured nautical-inspired embroidery in varying hues of blue to reflect the essence of the ocean, which serves as major inspiration for the theme of the spring 2024 collection.

Entitled “Kismet Voyage East to West,” the collection pays homage to Sadun Boro, the first Turkish amateur sailor to circumnavigate the globe by sailing vessel. It draws inspiration from his voyage and his beloved sailing boat, Kismet-Fortune.

A blend of avant-garde pieces with nautical-inspired details and tailoring, melding futuristic touches with subtle sentiments of nostalgia, the line is divided into two distinct parts. The first takes inspiration from the sail itself, featuring lightweight nylon fabrics, degraded leathers, shades of denim, and recycled materials. Details such as ropes, hand-made macrame, and contemporary cuts echo the inspiration drawn from vintage oil posters and sailing recruitment adverts. Meanwhile, the second part features silk, tailored fabrics, structured shapes, tailored suits, and multi-layered silhouettes.

Taha, who is based in South London, accessorized his look with layered chains, including a Hamsa pendant (another ode to his Turkish heritage), silver rings, and white Air Forces. But it was the fresh manicure complete with playful nail art that tied the entire look together.
