Expressing herself through textile, Sophia Kacimi, founder and creative director of Zoubida, projects her own identity through her work. Zoubida’s pieces are sustainable and sewn by craftsmen, 15 artisans from Fez, Rabat and Casablanca. The large Kenza jacket is Kacimi’s first tailoring in the business and affectionately named after her grandmother. The unique approach ensures that each handcrafted jacket is both stylish and sustainable.
‘After many years working for some of the leading names in the fashion industry, including Louis Vuitton in Paris, former brand Edun in New York, Alexander McQueen and Burberry in London, I felt the need for a more sustainable approach,” Kacimi said in a statement. “Zoubida keeps everything local, from sourcing its raw materials to production. Most importantly, the label has built long-term collaborations with some of the most-gifted Moroccan artisans working today, celebrating their meticulous craftsmanship and providing them with a reliable source of income and sustainable support’, she continued.
