The Sacai and Carhartt Collab Is Finally Here!

from runways to your wardrobe

First teased on runways the penultimate time the world of fashion congregated in Paris for Men’s Fashion Week last January, Japanese luxury brand Sacai has finally revealed the date when their much-anticipated collaboration with workwear label Carhartt W.I.P is set to hit shelves on Sept. 8.First appearing on Sacai’s Fall/Winter 2023 ready-to-wear collection back in January, the esteemed signature labels both dipped into each other’s strengths to stitch a unique set of items that is aesthetically pleasing, stylishly comfortable, and made to last.

Promising to be a quintessential fusion of style and practicality, the DNA of both brands was extracted to birth a joint assortment of sartorial creations that is as minimalist and sophisticated as any other item from Sacai, while retaining the rugged charm of functional clothing that has historically always set Carhartt apart.

Layered and colorful, the line carefully blends duck fabric jackets with Sacai’s sleek signature nylon twill fabric and oversized silhouette structures combined with intricate knit details, resulting in a visual symphony of textures and proportions that mix perfectly well.  Each piece in the collection is a testament to the art of juxtaposition, bridging two realms, worlds, and almost different industries through cotton, denim, and unexpected threads, that take form in coats, jackets, jumpers, shorts, pants, and skirts.

The campaign, which was captured through the lens of filmmaker Joaquim Bayle, zeroes in on the captivating rituals and distinctive idiosyncrasies that are woven into the fabric of popular street culture, handpicking a cast from Carhartt’s own skate team— which includes Pepe Tirelli, Tolia Titaev, Dede Lovelace, and Kasper Kacia— to take the center of the stage and embody this latest sartorial partnership.

With a laundry list of previous associates, which includes renowned names like Dior, Nike, A.P.C, and Jean Paul Gaultier, Carhartt is the latest brand to etch their name right by Sacai’s. The collection will be available to purchase from Sept. 8 in select retail stores as well as online through each label’s respective website. What’s more, shoppers can also get their hands on the pieces via three pop-ups dedicated to the release at Dover Street Market London starting Sept. 6 and BELOWGROUND Hong Kong and Shanghai Taikoo Li Qiantan from Sept. 7.
