Les Benjamins has joined forces with rapper Yasiin Bey (previously, and more commonly, known as Mos Def) and Moroccan artist Anuar Khalifi for a collaborative DJ set taking place on the rooftop of the Les Benjamins headquarter in Istanbul tonight. Titled “Cuit I Cru,” the event is aimed at raising funds towards earthquake relief efforts for Turkey and Syria.
The performance, which is being live streamed via YouTube and Bandcamp at 8pm GMT+3, allows viewers to donate directly to İhtiyaç Haritası Needs Map, which has created a campaign to support relief and recovery efforts for the immediate and urgent needs of the victims of the devastating Feb. 6 earthquakes, while allocating aid and support, such as winter clothes, food, heaters, blankets, medicine, and shelter to those who need it most.
To further support the efforts to raise much-needed funds, Les Benjamins, spearheaded by Turkish-German designer Bunyamin Aydin and his wife, Saudi designer Lamia Al-Otaishan, churned out a capsule collection of t-shirts and jewelry pieces made in collaboration with Yasiin Bey and Anuar Khalifi, that will be available online. All of the proceeds will go to on the ground recovery work.
The event is the biggest joint effort by a brand and artists so far to mark the earthquakes that killed more than 50,000 people and displaced more than 850,000 in Turkey and Syria.
