Pharrell Taps Tyler, The Creator For His First Louis Vuitton Collab

hey Siri, play ‘EARFQUAKE’

Pharrell Williams’ first designer collaboration for Louis Vuitton is finally here. The producer-turned-fashion-designer has teamed up with longtime friend and collaborator Tyler, The Creator to design a capsule collection for the Parisian brand.  The news, which was quick to make the internet break, marks Williams’s first collaborative menswear collection since he assumed leadership of the French luxury label in February 2023.

The Frontin’ hitmaker, who took over as creative director of the century-old maison following the untimely passing of Virgil Abloh, called on Tyler (born Tyler Okonma) to stitch an exclusive line that can be described as the perfect fusion of streetwear and high-fashion, embodying the essence of contemporary culture, timeless elegance, and sophisticated style.

“I admire his eye and we’ve always connected on music, fashion, and jewelry. He doesn’t shy away from doing something interesting and different,” Williams told WWD. “Everything that Tyler does is thoughtful and authentic. We’ve done something completely new with this project that merges our two worlds and the outcome is uniquely LV,” he added.

A sneak peek of the new range has already been released and from what has been shared, it seems as if this joint venture— which will be available to shop from March 21 onwards— heavily nods back to the duo’s respective aesthetics and visual identities all while incorporating Louis Vuitton’s flawless savoir-faire, its iconic monogram, as well as its unparalleled craftsmanship.

Noteworthy pieces include pastel yellow buckle coats, wool-cut aviator jackets with their own pilot goggles, a collectible cereal bowl, as well as a compact cheeseboard. Special mention to the collection’s preppy tones, most likely influenced by Tyler’s penchant for blending tailored silhouettes with retro leisurewear styles as he is used to doing through his own brand Golf Le Fleur*, which add a playful touch to the entire line as seen through the pleated trousers, the ultra-American blazers, and cable-knit jumpers amongst others.

What’s more, both chart-topping artists had a go at re-imagining LV’s emblematic trunk, which the duo whimsically reinvented and which resulted in a creative yet functional piece that successfully pays homage to the brand’s rich heritage and meticulous attention to detail. According to circulating reports, the carrier will set prospective customers back by a fair bit as it will reportedly retail at a price point of €68,000.

Below, an exclusive first look at the upcoming collection:
