Fashion’s fixation with food is no secret. In recent years, we’ve seen a number of brands cook up edible-themed accessories, including McDonalds cups crafted into shoulder bags from Moschino and Lay’s potato chip clutches by Balenciaga. Meanwhile, other labels took it a step further by joining forces with popular food companies, such as Supreme, which collaborated with American snack manufacturer Nabisco to create a Double Stuf Oreo in the skateboard brand’s signature bright red. And who can forget when sportswear giant Adidas partnered up with 11 local family-owned restaurants across 11 cities, including beloved Pakistani eatery in Dubai, Ravi, to launch a range of limited-edition sneakers?
Now the latest brand to team up with a restaurant is contemporary streetwear and lifestyle brand Shabab Intl., which recently collaborated with Berenjak Dubai on a limited edition t-shirt and a “Shabab” kabab. The Dubai-based label teamed up with the Persian restaurant on a black T-shirt with a graphic print boasting the texts “Berenjak Dubai” and “Shabab” in both Arabic and English for fans of both the brand and the restaurant to eat up.
The designers invited a circle of stylish friends to celebrate the new collaboration on April 3 at the restaurant alongside Kian Samyani, the founder of Berenjak. The limited-edition t-shirt is available to purchase at Berenjak Dar Wasl for 250 AED.
The partnership is the latest in a string of collaborations for Shabab. In the past, the contemporary genderless brand has teamed up with Hassan Hajjaj’s Andy Wahloo, Rascal’s Deli, Nike, and Umbro, among others.
