Ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup next month, Qatar is set to play proud host to an altruistic event that will weave philanthropy and fashion for a special moment on Oct. 28 in Doha. Held under the patronage of Her Excellency Sheikha Al-Mayassa bint Hamad Al-Thani, and in collaboration between Qatar Creates and British supermodel Naomi Campbell’s non-profit organization, Fashion for Relief, Emerge is expected to be the latest charitable initiative to get underway in the Gulf State.
Taking place in three main events, Emerge seeks to provide grass root level talents with guidance, thorough assistance as well as an inclusive platform that will actively support and follow the next generation of trailblazing minds on their journey towards the industry’s summits. Through this effort, apprenticeships, after-school masterclasses, and university programmes will be developed, culminating with a charity gala, fashion show and auction to uplift burgeoning talent from the African continent, the Middle East, and their diaspora.

Echoing on Al-Thani’s comments, Saad Al Hudaifi, Executive Director of Qatar Creates, also lauded this important moment in Qatar Creates’ journey claiming that the “mission at Qatar Creates is to champion cultural dialogue and to curate the most engaging activities and events for our country. The Emerge gala is a highlight in our calendar and a high point for the international fashion and creative industries, giving us an opportunity to collaborate on timely initiatives that can create true impact for others.”
The ticketed occasion, expected to be held in Qatar’s Ceremonial Court, will unfold through three main events comprised of an art installation, a fashion show, as well as a talk that will bring together leading professionals to discuss the future of the creative industry after an introductory conversation on the power of creativity in business held between Campbell, Sheikha Al Mayassa, and New York-based portrait painter Kehinde Wiley.
